Looking Back On 'The Blind Side'

I caught The Blind Side on Sunday on Astro (Malaysia's Cable TV) and it was a great show. One of those feel-good movies.

I loved it for the kind of values it encourages, the kind of insight into a changing America (or so, we hope it is...) and also, for the kind of spirit shown in it.

Humans are selfish. We know it. And more often than not, we use this as an excuse, for our selfish behaviour, like it absolves us of all sin & guilt. Those who aren't as selfish, are usually taken advantage of, labelled "too nice".

What happened to all-encompassing, wholesome goodness? What happened to selflessness?
We applaud those who give themselves oh so selflessly, but when it comes to crunch time and a time to volunteer, why do most of us take a step back or perhaps even come up with some lame excuse?

It's really time to reflect upon ourselves. That "Man In The Mirror". Me.
